i just had a look and you can get the api compressors on there own for around £6- £900. but they seem a bit mainstream i always like to pick something better that not many have heard of. the lot basically i was looking at the tla dual valve compressor. i want to pcomp, sidechain, upwards and downwards compression. or running it as an aux compressor so studio one uses it like an external device plugin. Id be mainly using the outboard compressor as a hub for compression being able to use it as added compression on recording in. i really like the sound of the p comp with the puig child waves comp plugin.

We all like our endulgences no worries mate. i don't know if you can get the same SOUND via software. i think you can get the SAME sound via software. Didn't feel like it was programmed anymore. it was like the sound bcame "real" to me. I totally could be hearing things of course.
JBRIDGE KICKASS SOFTWARE
i do prefer the sound of my hardware RNLA to the software i listed above.

I was mainly seeking an understanding as to why to have them aswell. Make a commitment, stick it in stone, and make it work! and the sound is still very good.Īnd if you're going to grab the outboard, just be mentally prepared to commit to audio more. with plugins, you don't have to do any of that. and i took a picture of the front panel, instead of writing it down, and put it in the project file so i can remember the settings in case i need to switch it up. I ended up printing my mix (which takes time bc you have to bounce realtime). i need to go to another song lol, and i'm doing to lose this great sound I'm getting the moment i turn these knobs. I didn't think about that benefit very deeply, but ran into the conundrum after I mixed those drums with the RNLA. I like not having to worry about my settings when i jump from project to project. The main value of the software compressors to me is recallability.

I can't say the same for all outboard compressors. It shaped it to the point where it's actually usable, without a real pre-mix done to it. (something i would NEEVVVEEERRRR even attempt to do). I threw the RNLA on my entire unmixed drum bus. I have Softube CL 1b, TDR Feedback Comp, S1 stock comp, Klanghelm D8C8, UAD 1176 and LA2A. but there's something about the RNLA that none of my compressors helps me achieve. Put it this way, I now understand why people grab outboard compressors. so you may not need that many, but if you did. you could land about 6-8 of them at $200 a piece. I would also consider getting a team of FMR RNLA's and FMR RNC's. Sounds like a very very good utilize "do- it all" unit. I might need to add one to my search to build the "ultimate studio" lol. Never actually looked for em to be honest.

wasn't aware there were 8-channel comps out there.
